EDUCATION

Dorthe Zielke graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2000. Immediately after completing her studies, she was offered a one-year substitute position with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. From 2002 to 2003, she continued her orchestral studies as an intern with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. During this time, she received several study travel grants and took private lessons with Phil Smith (New York), Arnold Jacobs (Chicago), Jonas Haltia and Ole Edvard Antonsen (Oslo), and Hans Gansch (Salzburg).

ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES

Dorthe Zielke has extensive experience as a freelance orchestral musician with numerous Danish and international orchestras, including the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the DR Big Band, Danish regional orchestras, military bands, Esbjerg Ensemble, Storstrøm Chamber Ensemble, and the radio symphony orchestras in Berlin and Frankfurt. She has also performed with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Europa Philharmonie, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

In collaboration with Søren Johannsen (organist at Christians Church, Copenhagen), she has given concerts since 1999 and released seven CDs featuring music for trumpet and organ. Dorthe Zielke also forms a duo with harpist Tine Rehling.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Dorthe Zielke is a part-time instructor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she teaches pedagogy to trumpet majors. She also teaches at the MGK program at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium and serves as a trumpet instructor for the Tivoli Youth Guard.
