Leif Meyer
Leif Meyer (b. 1971) trained as an organist under Professor Hans Fagius at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and has also studied harpsichord under Karen Englund and Lars Ulrik Mortensen. He has participated in masterclasses with Harald Vogel, Hans-Ola Ericsson and Christophe Rousset, amongst others.
For many years, Leif has specialised in basso continuo playing on harpsichord and organ. As a continuo player, he has appeared on a number of CD recordings of chamber music and choral and orchestral works from the Baroque period.
Teaching
Since 2011, Leif has been a part-time teacher of basso continuo/harpsichord at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
Artistic practice
Leif has performed nationally and internationally with ensembles such as Ars Nova Copenhagen, Concerto Copenhagen, Leipziger Kammerorchester and the Harp Consort. He has also been musical director of Tiggeroperaen (The Beggar’s Opera) and Händel's Alcina at Den Fynske Opera, and he is co-founder of the baroque ensemble Originalerne.org.
