Copenhagen Soloists - Haydn and Beethoven
The programme includes two solo concerts by Haydn: Trompet concert played by Justin Bland, and Piano concert no. 11 played by Gilbert Martinez. The concert ends with Beethoven's Symphony no. 1.
Both soloists are permanent members of Copenhagen Soloists. Bland plays the pad trompet - an instrument that emerged around Haydn's composition date - until then the trompet was an instrument without pads. Martinez plays a forte piano from 1790.
Beethoven's Symphony no. 1 includes all the characteristics of Beethoven with rhythmic and harmonic surprises, brillians, lyrics, and drama. The early symphony is both modern and light.
Copenhagen Soloists performed Beethoven's symphonies no. 5 and no. 7 in 'The Beethoven Year' 2020. It was the first time in recent times that these works have been performed on historic instruments by a Danish orchestra, and this will be the case again this time.
Orchestra on authentic instruments.
