CAN I APPLY TO MULTIPLE DANISH MUSIC ACADEMIES?

Yes, you can, but the application process varies depending on whether you are applying for a Bachelor's programme or a Master's/Advanced postgraduate (soloist) programme.

Bachelor’s programmes
There is a coordinated application process for Bachelor’s programmes at the Danish music academies. You can apply for admission to two music academies simultaneously, but you only need to submit your application and take the entrance exam at the music academy you have listed as your first priority. If you have applied to RDAM as your first priority and passed your entrance exam with us but we cannot offer you admission, we will forward your application to your second priority if you have indicated one in your application. Your second priority will then decide whether they can offer you a study place.
You can specify any second priority in the online application form.

Master’s and Advanced postgraduate (soloist) programmes
For Master's and Advanced postgraduate (soloist) programmes, there are no coordinated application process among the music academies. If you wish to apply to multiple places, you will need to apply and take the entrance exams at the relevant music academies.

3.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE APPLICATION FORM?

Applications for admission to the Royal Danish Academy of Music are submitted through the application portal, Studieoptag, by filling out the application form and paying the application fee (500 DKK).

Applications for Bachelor's and Master's programmes are open from mid-October, while applications for Advanced postgraduate (soloist) programmes are open from mid-February.

You will find a link to Studieoptag further down this page and in the main menu.

4.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION?

Immediately after the application deadline, you will receive an informational email containing a list of accompanists you can contact if you need an accompanist for your entrance exam. You must bring, pay for, and make all practical arrangements with the accompanist yourself.

About a month after the application deadline, you will receive a notification with the time and place for your entrance exams.
