Background

Allan Sjølin began playing guitar at the age of 11 and is a classically trained guitarist with a soloist degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he studied under Jesper Sivebæk. He has participated in masterclasses and studied with some of the greatest guitarists of our time, including Leo Brouwer, Pepe Romero, Sergio Assad, and Roland Dyens.

Teaching

Since 2012, Allan has taught at music schools, leveraging his broad artistic experience to teach in various contexts beyond guitar. He has frequently conducted workshops at music schools and MGKs in Denmark and abroad and has also been invited to give masterclasses at international guitar festivals.

Artistic Practice

Allan Sjølin has a threefold artistic practice: as a chamber musician (e.g., in the Copenhagen Guitar Duo and the flute/guitar duo Villén & Sjølin), as an orchestral assistant in chamber and symphony orchestras both in Denmark and abroad (playing guitar and various string instruments like mandolin, banjo, balalaika, etc.), and as an accompanist for opera singers (arranging over 300 songs and arias for all voice types).
He has toured extensively worldwide, performing approximately 125 concerts annually in various settings. Allan has released over 10 CDs and streaming recordings as a chamber musician and soloist.
