In this evening’s composition ‘(I Love You) For Instrumental Reasons’, composer and performer Michael Hope poses questions about what we value in contemporary music, and with this concert he presents his proposal for alternatives.

Michael Hope says about the concert:
'The concert explores various questions confronting composers and musicians today; how is it that new music currently maintains such an acute and persistent shortage of creative geniuses? Is it time that composers took a break from engaging in large-scale artistic projects with radical concepts, denouncing society and its institutions, and instead entertained a gentler, more humble focus on self-expression, craft, and the transcendent potential of art? And how does the role of the artist function within a culture and continent increasingly characterised by moribundity and irrelevance?'

Performers: Michael Hope, Mikkel Schou, Dylan Richards, Matthew Grouse, Joss Smith, Gustav Bjerre and others.
