FOKU-festival
On Saturday, April 20th, the Royal Danish Academy of Music opens its doors and invites all interested individuals to the FOKU festival - a festival where music itself takes a back seat and instead spotlights the knowledge generated at an artistic educational institution like the conservatory.
FOKU and the FOKU Festival
FOKU stands for Research, Artistic Practice, and Development Activities and is the collective term for the activities and projects that educators work on alongside their teaching and musical activities with support from DKDM and the Ministry of Culture. FOKU contributes to the continued development and exploration of music as a field and also forms the knowledge base on which DKDM's programs are built.
At the FOKU festival, you can gain insight into a range of these projects - both ongoing and completed. The presentations will cover a wide range of content, reflecting the diversity of activities taking place at DKDM within the framework of FOKU.
For example, are you interested in how performing musicians use analogies and metaphors in working with romantic works? Or would you like to know how rock classics can be rewritten as organ music? Or are you interested in aesthetic learning processes and how children's attachment to culture and music affects their learning? These are all topics you can learn a lot more about at this year's FOKU festival.
Program
The day will consist of alternating presentations lasting 30-60 minutes each on three of our stages: the Study Stage, New Hall, and Organ Hall.
