The Play of the Night
The Play of the Night is an opera in one act with music by Britta Byström and libretto by Peter Bäckström. The title refers to Penelope's nightly dreams, where she encounters images, goddesses and people. Her analysis of these dreams is reflected in her daily life: in her waiting for her husband Odysseus, who may never return from war, and in her impending life choices.
RDAM vocal and instrumental students are conducted by Ondrej Soukup. The production is directed by Peter Bäckström, with costumes by Sandra Åberg.
The opera has been commissioned by the Royal Danish Academy of Music with support from A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formaal.
A limited number of free admission tickets will be handed out in person at DKDM's reception from 7 January at 9-14 (while stocks last).
