Stairway to Bach
Symphonic rock music from the 1960s and 1970s is largely inspired by baroque music, especially by Johann Sebastian Bach. This inspiration led Organ Professor Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen to arrange a series of rock songs for the classical instrument, the organ.
The program is based on rock music, but within the parameters of the classical instrument, always accompanied by Bach. In some cases, Bach is already part of rock music, and in others, Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen has discreetly added quotes from well-known Bach works. The program also includes a couple of authentic Bach organ works, and the performance flows into a patchwork of organ baroque, Bach, and symphonic rock.
Works by J.S. Bach, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, The Doors, Queen, and Pink Floyd.
