Musical Text Work
The project Musical Text Work aims to investigate whether, with the aid of a conceptual musical world, it is possible to improve the ability to read, understand and interpret both spoken texts and texts set to music. Via workshops and artistic experiments, the project will explore and challenge the traditional rehearsal and interpretation practices of classical singing.
The project includes a series of workshops in which the investigations will be conducted in co-operation with both students and an invited external consultant. Besides the results from the workshops, there will be a collaboration with a composer and the Figura ensemble to compose and perform a new work on the basis of the project’s fundamental methodological approach: the musical text work.
The project is funded through a grant from the Ministry of Culture’s pool for artistic research.
