In an exciting and varied program, the talented percussion students of DKDM perform Nordic, Japanese, and American percussion music.

The concert begins with the American composer John Psathas's stimulating work for 5 percussionists inspired by a theme from Keith Jarrett, followed by the Danish composer Poul Ruders's slightly intimidating work 'Regime' for 3 percussionists. One can consider the piece as a regime in itself and perhaps feel a bit cornered.

The concert also features a soloist. Alicja Krajewska performs the iconic work 'Marimba spiritual' by the Japanese composer Minoru Miki accompanied by a percussion trio.

The piece 'Ombra' by the Swedish composer Tobias Broström for 4 percussionists is a wonderfully imaginative piece of music inspired by Japanese shadow play.

The concert concludes with Søren Monrad's work 'Zavanna' for 7 percussionists. With powerful outbursts and gentle meditative sounds, the piece describes the African savannah in all its beauty and cruelty.
