Handbook for organists
Handbook for organists - an introduction to the work as an organist in the Danish church
An organist who is employed in the Danish church will work with a large number of areas that it is not possible to touch on in the education at the conservatory. An organist does not just play at church services and concerts. The organist will often act as the main force in the local musical life of the parish or town. The organist must also in many cases have staff responsibility towards more or less professional choir singers. In addition, the organist must be able to enter into a constructive internal collaboration with the parish council and priests as well as an external collaboration with the rest of the local music and cultural life.
Following some seminars in the organ department under the heading "entrepreneurship for organists", I am preparing a handbook for organists with a brief introduction to the various areas that organist work includes. I hope to be able to help newly qualified organists to avoid the worst mistakes, so that you can quickly get started with constructive and versatile work as an organist.
