practical information for the Academy's concert halls

We look forward to welcoming you to our concert halls at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. We endeavour to offer good access conditions, but due to special conservation and building conditions, there are certain restrictions. On this page you can inform yourself before you visit the Concert Hall or one of RDAM's other halls.

Konservatoriets Koncertsal

THE ACADEMY CONCERT HALL

The entrance to the Concert Hall is from Julius Thomsens Gade 1. We have room for 1058 guests in the Concert Hall. Seating is divided into Floor (lower level), Balcony (1st floor) and Attic (2nd floor). The Concert Hall and the Front of House are listed buildings and are part of Danish cultural history, which is why we must all take care of the building.

The Front of House is the building that surrounds the Concert Hall, including the bar, cloakroom and foyer. Our Front of House staff are ready to welcome you and will help you if you have any questions.

FOOD AND DRINKS, OUTERWEAR AND BAGS

The seats in the hall are made of full-grain leather and are very vulnerable to liquids in particular. Therefore, it is not possible to bring food and drinks into the Concert Hall. The seats also scratch and tear easily, which is why outerwear and large bags should not be brought into the Concert Hall. At the same time, you are also helping to ensure the safety of yourself and your fellow concertgoers.

There is no charge for storing bags and outerwear in our staffed cloakrooms. There will always be staff monitoring the cloakrooms during a concert.

WHEN DO THE DOORS CLOSE?

All our concerts and events start on time. Unfortunately, if you arrive late, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to enter the Concert Hall until after the intermission, as this can (depending on the concert) be disruptive to both guests and performers.

We therefore recommend that you arrive in good time to return your outerwear to the cloakroom and find your seat.

Koncertsalens bar

THE CONCERT HALL BAR

One hour before all our public concerts, we welcome you to our foyer bar on Floor. Coffee, tea, wine, beer, soft drinks and light snacks are sold here. It is also possible to pre-order drinks for the intermission by visiting the bar before the concert starts. Your pre-ordered drinks will be served either at the counter at Cloakroom E or F – you will be informed about this by the staff when you have placed your order.

For most large concerts, we will also have a bar open in the Carl Nielsen Foyer on the Balcony. However, it is not possible to have pre-ordered drinks served in the Carl Nielsen Foyer.

RULES OF ORDER

At all our concerts, we ask you to switch off your mobile phone and generally show consideration for the other guests in the hall.

Our Front of House staff are here to give our guests the best possible experience – but also to make sure we comply with the Concert Hall's conservation rules. Therefore, all guests are requested to always follow staff instructions in a respectful manner.

We reserve the right to reject and expel guests who do not follow house rules and staff instructions.

Konservatoriets forhus

WHEELCHAIR USERS AND PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES

For concerts and events in the Concert Hall, we offer access for four wheelchair users and a companion to the Floor (lower level).

There is no lift in the Concert Hall, so wheelchair users cannot use the Balcony and Attic. We also recommend that guests with walking difficulties use the seats on the Floor. If you wish to use the Balcony and Floor, you must bring your own companion to help with the stairs. A toilet for wheelchair users is located in the Front of House (on the ground floor).

There is a disabled parking space to the right of the entrance to the Adademy Concert Hall in Julius Thomsens Gade. Vehicles with a visible parking card for people with disabilities are exempt from digital registration and payment in the parking zone.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to borrow wheelchairs or hearing loops.

TRANSPORT AND PARKING

The Royal Danish Academy of Music is located on the corner of Rosenørns Allé and Julius Thomsens Gade in Frederiksberg.

The Academy is located directly opposite Forum Metro station.

Bus lines 2A, 71 and 250S stop at Rosenørns Allé, line 1A at H.C. Ørstedsvej.

There are several parking options in the area, which is part of both Frederiksberg's and Copenhagen Municipality's parking zones. You must find out whether you are parking in Frederiksberg's or Copenhagen Municipality's parking zone. For both zones, you must be digitally registered from the beginning of parking – either through one of the digital parking apps or through the nearest parking machine.

More information about parking rules and maps of the zones can be found on the City of Frederiksberg's website and the City of Copenhagen's website.

RDAM’s OTHER HALLS

The Study Stage, New Hall, Garden Hall, Organ Hall and Study foyer have entrances from Rosenørns Allé 22.

There is a wheelchair lift to New Hall, but as it is a listed building, there is no lift to the other halls. There are stairs and small steps to climb – so we recommend you to arrive in good time and bring a companion/carer if you wish to attend these concerts and events.
