Consort and Recorder
An artistic specialisation
In the course of two years of studies in early music, you will acquire special skills in handling instruments from the Baroque and Classical periods. We emphasise the students' artistic and instrumental development, which will prepare you for a professional career as an interpreter of early music. You will receive tuition in your principal study, chamber music and ensemble playing in large ensembles.
Performance practice is a central part of the study
Performance practice for your instrument and in the various styles is an important part of the Master's programme in early music. You will work with performance practice-related issues, and learn to seek information from relevant sources and express yourself in writing.
Basso continuo for all
All students of early music will acquire a fundamental familiarity with basso continuo. If your instrument is the harpsichord, basso continuo will comprise a more central part of the study, both as accompaniment and as artistic tool.
Many guest teachers
The study programme in early music attracts some of the best teachers and artists in the field. Accordingly, part of the tuition takes the form of project work and masterclasses in an international environment.
