Brass & Percussion Day 2025 brought together children and young musicians from across the country

For the ninth consecutive year, RDAM hosted Brass & Percussion Day for young brass and percussion students, with 95 children and young musicians participating in a full-day program this year.

Prior to the event, participants had practiced their parts in different groups based on their skill level. When they gathered at the conservatory on Saturday, the day was filled with both sectional rehearsals and full ensemble rehearsals.

The day's efforts culminated in a spectacular concert in the Academy Concert Hall, featuring performances by RDAM’s talent ensemble, RDAM Brass Band, Concord Brass Band, and the grand orchestra comprising all participants. The soloists of the day were the winners of the online soloist competition held prior to the event: Noah Hansen on marimba, Bastian Aaberg Andersen on euphonium, and Olivia Ellen Riis Andreasen on violin.

It was a festive day centered around community, ensemble playing, and the joy of music. Participants experienced the magic of musical collaboration – when musicians of varying levels support each other and together create an extraordinary musical performance.

The event is the brainchild of passionate brass professor Jesper Juul Windahl, who, along with a dedicated team, worked tirelessly to make it all come together. A huge thank you to Jesper, the team behind the event, and – most importantly – to all the participating children and young musicians. We look forward to welcoming you again next year!
