RDAM Strengthens Its String Department
The Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) has appointed two new associate professors, who have until now been affiliated with the Academy as part-time lecturers.
"In the string faculty, we are very pleased that Frederik Øland and Asbjørn Nørgaard have been appointed as associate professors, further strengthening their ties to our department.
We already know them as outstanding and dedicated teachers, and we are also proud that, as members of one of the world's leading string quartets, they prioritize making time in a busy quartet schedule to contribute to the continued development of our string faculty.
This bodes very well for the future. A heartfelt welcome, Frederik and Asbjørn," says Tim Frederiksen, head of the string faculty at RDAM.
"It is a great honor to be appointed as an associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. RDAM is one of the traditional pillars of the Danish music world, but it is also an institution in rapid development. I myself studied at RDAM, and it is fantastic now to be able to give something back to this excellent school. We must train string players of the highest international caliber, but we must also shape musicians who have the skills, flexibility, and curiosity to engage with the broader musical and societal landscape," says Asbjørn Nørgaard.
Asbjørn Nørgaard graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, making his debut in 2013. Additionally, he has studied at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm, and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Over the years, he has distinguished himself as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and educator.
