Dávur Birgisson was awarded 1st Prize
The 22-year-old Dávur Birgisson was awarded 1st prize in the Stella Polaris Competition. The finale took place in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands, on 4th of February 2017. The first prize consists of 20,000 DKK and a solo recital in Tórshavn.
The Stella Polaris competition is held every two years in Tórshavn, and the participants are young classical musicians connected with the Faroe Islands. This year, 60 musicians participated in the competition, and the jury consisted of 5 members - 3 from the Faroe Islands, and 2 external (Tine Thing Helseth from Norway, and Oddny Hedinsdóttir Olsen from Iceland).
Dávur Birgisson is a Master’s student at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he studies under Associate Professor Jesper Sivebæk.
