DKDM's concerts in the spring of 2024
The concerts of this spring promise an abundance of musical experiences, appealing to both curiosity and immersion. As usual, surprises abound at the extensive PULSAR festival, featuring concerts and events curated by the conservatory's composition students. The soloist class will also challenge themselves and the audience with six recitals in a more intimate setting in Ny Sal.
As a new addition, audiences can enjoy a mini-series of two so-called X-concerts. The 'X' symbolizes cross-disciplinary, encompassing both instrumentation and time and place: crossing borders and blending the new with the old.
However, traditional sonata evenings are not overlooked, featuring Brahms' sonatas for violin, cello or viola/clarinet, and piano. And the series of concerts showcasing the conservatory's departments continues this year with music for percussion, guitar ensemble, and cello ensemble. For chamber opera enthusiasts, Massenet's Cendrillon (Cinderella) will be performed in a semi-staged production on the Study Stage in January.
The conservatory's symphony orchestra will grace the stage for several concerts throughout the spring. Opera lovers can attend an opera concert at the Old Stage, conducted by Giordano Bellincampi, the head of the conservatory's conducting class. And to conclude the season, there's a summer concert conducted by Thomas Dausgaard.
Running like a thread through the spring concert offerings is the conservatory's Wednesday Concerts tradition. In Copenhagen's churches and other concert venues, you'll find about twenty concerts where students have curated a diverse range of programs.
Enjoy!
