Oliver Nordahl receives DKK 250,000
Aennchen and Eigil Harby's Foundation, also called the Sonning Prize of the Young, is one of Denmark's largest music foundations for young artists. The foundation was established in 1994 and since then two large scholarships have annually been awarded to support young artists on their way to promising careers. The chosen two receive DKK 250,000 each.
This year the prize is awarded to the oboist Oliver Nordahl, who studies in the soloist class with professor Max Artved at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and to cellist Chiao-Hui Wang, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in June 2013.
The presentation took place at a concert in the Music House in Aarhus on Saturday 30th November 2013, when the two prize winners were soloists with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Håkon Nystedt. The programme included Mozart's Oboe Concerto and Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto.
Oliver Nordahl will graduate from RDAM's soloist class at a public debut concert in the academy's Concert Hall on 9th April 2014. He has assisted in several symphony orchestras and as of 2012 he is permanently employed as solo oboist in Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.
