Piano Dreams
RDAM Publication by Professor Niklas Sivelov and Associate Professor Søren Schauser
This book is the result of artistic research performed at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. A Professor of Piano and composer has described everything from planning the perfect program to the proper use of pedals; and a music historian and philosopher has considered everything from the motive of Bartolomeo Cristofori's invention of the modern piano to the effect music has on us.
We look at the nature of music from two very different perspectives. One looks as close as possible and writes about the role of the thumb or mind in the last second before the concert. The other raises himself as high as possible and rewrites the sound of the early universe or the relationship between music and the body's movements.
