RDAM student selected for Nordic Music Days

RDAM student Martin Stauning’s work “Îles en Mer d’Argent" has been selected for Nordic Music Days 2016. The piece was written for Ensemble Storstrøm’s 25th anniversary this year, and will also be performed at Martin Stauning’s debut concert in the Academy Concert Hall on 5th October. Martin Stauning (b. 1982) studied composition at The Royal Danish Academy of Music with Hans Abrahamsen, Bent Sørensen and Niels Rosing-Schow.

Nordic Music Days is one of the world’s oldest music festivals, founded in 1888 in Copenhagen. The festival will showcase pioneering contemporary music performances by Nordic composers performed by leading ensembles and soloists from the Nordic region.

In addition to Martin Stauning, Denmark will be represented by RDAM alumni Ylva Lund Bergner and Simon Steen-Andersen, and representing the older generation of Danish composers, the recently deceased Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen.
