Trio Vitruvi wins Chamber Music Competition

RDAM Piano Trio wins both First Prize and the Audience Prize

The RDAM ensemble Trio Vitruvi won P2's Chamber Music Competition 2014, organized by DR (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation). 16 chosen ensembles competed about the prestigious prizes. The finals took place on Thursday 17th April in DR's large concert hall and the trio won both the First Prize of DKK 100,000 and the Audience Prize of DK 30,000. Thus they take up the legacy after other known RDAM ensembles who have previously won First Prize in the competition: The accordion duo MYTHOS (2011), the piano trio Trio Ismena (2009) and the Danish String Quartet (2004).

Trio Vitruvi consists of the violinist Niklas Valentin and the pianist Alexander McKenzie both studying at the master's programme level at the Royal Danish Music Academy and the cellist Jacob la Cour who studies at the conservatory in Hannover.

The two other prizes were won by the RDAM ensembles Carl Nielsen Quintet (Second Prize of DKK 50,000) and Copenhagen Piano Quartet (Third Prize of DKK 20,000).
