Visiting Professor Marianna Shirinyan receives Honorary Award

Pianist Marianna Shirinyan receives the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation's Honorary Award

RDAM Visiting Professor, pianist Marianna Shirinyan will receive one of the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s Foundation honorary awards 2022. Each award is of DKK 750,000. The other recipients are oboist Henrik Goldschmidt, composer Allan Gravgaard Madsen, and composer SØS Gunver Ryberg. 

Marianna Shirinyan was appointed Visiting Professor at RDAM in 2021. She has established herself as one of the leading pianists of her generation, and has performed as a soloist with the leading Scandinavian orchestras, including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Copenhagen Phil, and Umeå Symphony Orchestra.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she is a frequent guest at major international festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Bergen International Festival and MDR Musiksommer, and she has worked with such conductors as Zoltán Kocsis, Hans Graf, Jun Märkl, Antonello Manacorda, Thomas Søndergård, Krzysztof Urbański and Joshua Weilerstein, amongst others.

Every year the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s Foundation grants the largest honorary awards in Denmark to Danish artists. Every other year to musicians and composers and every other year to sculptors.
