Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Awards 2024

Current and former RDAM musicians are among this year's recipients

Every year on Carl Nielsen's birthday, the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation awards honorary mentions and talent awards to sculptors, musicians and composers, many of whom, according to the Foundation, are already well on their way in their careers.

Among the recipients are RDAM student Gustav Piekut, pianist from the soloist class and Bjarke Schousboe, bachelor student on bassoon as well as former RDAM student Nicholas Swensen.

In a press release from Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen's Foundation, they write about Gustav Piekut: "(...) pianist Gustav Piekut, who already at a young age is receiving great praise worldwide for his virtuoso playing and is predicted by many to be Denmark's next world name in classical music."

Gustav Piekut himself says about the great recognition: "Like all musicians and artists, I devote a very large part of my being to my work, and the award motivates me to continue to approach music with curiosity and enthusiasm. It is also a significant honour to be added to the great list of previous award winners (...)".

For young bassoonist Bjarke Ramnefjell Schousboe, who started his career at the age of 7 and has since won numerous awards, scholarships and competitions, the future also looks bright. On receiving the talent award, he said: "For me, receiving the Carl and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen talent award is not only a great honour. It's a huge recognition, motivation and financial freedom (...)"
