Léonie Sonning Talent Awards 2024

8 of the 10 recipients are from RDAM

The Léonie Sonning Music Foundation has just awarded this year's talent prizes to young musical talents and ensembles, and again this year both current and former RDAM students are strongly represented among the recipients.

Last year, the criteria for the recipients of a talent award were changed from exclusively Danish and Nordic musicians to also include foreign musicians working in Denmark. This is reflected this year in the list of recipients. Ensembles have also become part of the target group with the aim of getting more young people to prioritise chamber music.

The prizes of DKK 100,000 each cannot be applied for but are awarded by the foundation's board. They are awarded in continuation of the great Léonie Sonning Music Prize, which this year went to the French-Swiss flautist Emmanuel Pahud. Meet him on 1 June for a masterclass and artist talk at RDAM.

  • Akela String Quartet (RDAM)
