Development activities
Development activity may be divided into two sub-categories: artistic research (KUV) and pedagogical development (PUV). The boundary between the two categories is flexible, and development activities usually contain elements of both KUV and PUV. Pedagogical development thus often raises artistic issues, while artistic research often encompasses or stimulates pedagogical considerations.
Artistic research (KUV)
In 2012, the Ministry of Culture published a report on KUV to which the artistic educational institutions, including RDAM, have subsequently referred in their artistic research. The report defines artistic research as follows:
“Artistic research is an integral part of an artistic process which leads to a publicly-accessible result, and which is accompanied by a reflection on both the process and the presentation of results.”
Artistic research at RDAM consists of large and small projects within the framework of the individual teacher’s appointment. KUV activities are not only important for the professional development of the individual teacher – the knowledge that the projects generate is fed back into the teaching at RDAM, just as the KUV activities generally contribute to consolidating and developing RDAM as a educational and cultural institution.
Pedagogical development (PUV)
Pedagogical development encompasses such activities as the development of new methods of learning and communication, the introduction of new technologies in teaching, the development of new methods in the description of educational content, etc. In special cases, participation in competition juries, the holding of special master classes or other more specialised project teaching can be classified as PUV.
